Oldest as in the date of the original recording or oldest as in the type of music?
As in the date of recording (I listen to music from 1300's, but i don't think that really qualifies as old time music, in an OTR sense)  :)
Could you please date the recordings you cited? Unfortunately, I'm pretty ignorant musicwise, so I wouldn't know how old that music is  :(
BTW, in my case I think the oldest recording I listen to must be (I'm not positive, though) - Music out of the Moon by Samuel Hoffman and Les baxter, which was recorded in 1947, I believe...

I would have to say my oldest by date are my Andrews sisters songs.

I first saw them perform "You're a Lucky Fellow Mr. Smith" in one of the older Abbott and Costello films (probably Buck Privates or Keep 'Em Flying) and since then have heard more of Maxine, Patti, and Laverne than I would have expected!

And to add a question, if I may, how many different versions of one particular song do you have on your ipod?
I have 4 versions of Led Zeppelin's Dancing Days: album version, live version, Stone Temple Pilots cover, and one cover by a string quartet!

good one!
just Joy Division alone i have LP versions, Live versions, Peel Sessions, BBC Live, and rough mixes from the producers outtakes, i'm not even really a huge Joy Division fan... to be fair thay aren't all on my iPod.
taking a quick spin through the most seems to be 3 or 4 by various artists, the Police, the Jam, the Clash.
hahahahaha, obsession, it's a wonderful thing.

Looks like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy was recorded in 1941.   I have them on my iPod cause I'm with a trio of girls who sing Andrews Sisters songs.

My iPod consists of many of the following:

Celine Dion
Josh Groban
MercyMe
Linkin Park
TobyMac
Michael Bublé
Joshua Bell
lots of classical, pop, Christian Pop/Rock
Sarah Brightman
Sinatra
Tony Bennett
The Rat Pack
and (maybe Mac would know about these:
Luciano Pavoratti
Andrea Bocelli (I love these guys and their music!)

And, of course, a boatload of OTR

Oh yes, I know them  ;)  Pavarotti is one of the best things from this country that have managed to pass the borders. I think "Con te partirò" is a very good song - a classic in its own right - for the rest I must admit I don't know Bocelli's music that much  :-\

Regarding the different versions thing, I do not have an ipod, but I guess the track I have the largest number of versions of must be "Ti sento," great track by Matia Bazar.

Chianti, 1941?  Ouch, you beat me!  I gotta find something older to listen to  ;)

Sinatra

I believe that Christian Pop/Rock is the fastest-growing radio format in the US, so you are far from alone.
Which is your favorite Sinatra song? I know it is hard to choose, but I've always been partial to "Summer Wind."

"Fly me to the Moon" is my favorite song by Sinatra (the only one, I think, actually), but only because it was the end title theme to Neon Genesis Evangelion (in a different version, of course).  One of my sisters is a huge Sinatra fan, though...

Everybody's mentioned their favorite music that they play on their mp3/ I-POD. What about other pod casts. I like to listen to some BBC shows like book reviews, film reviews also an outdoor pod cast about Scotland plus a sports quiz and a comedy show. My non BBC pod casts vary from comedy, history, Australian radio. Plus of course all of Jim's OTR apart from The great gildersleeve.

Mac: Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try it out, and yes, Con Ti Partiro is one of his best (so is his rendition of Nessun Dorma!)
I'm a BIG Sinatraphile, so buttoning down a favorite is VERY hard... However, his later Capitol/all Reprise recordings are fantastic.

As for podcasts; I listen to alot of OTR podcasts, a great conservative podcast: Right On Right with Christopher Frederickson, and (Nice to see you back, Chianti!) Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Just got a new episode of that tonite!
Other than that, it's all for Jim!
