I agree - they're as much a part of the fun as the show itself

And they still work, at least on me, after listening to the whole Superman series, I so want the darn thingies you could only find in kellog's cornflakes!

By the way, on the national tv channel here, up to a few years ago (now I wouldn't know, I stopped watching Italian channels) there was a special program that aired once a year called "La notte dei pubblivori" ("The night of commercialsivorous" (sorry for this poorr attempt at translating an invented word that was intended to mean "those who eat/live on commercials")).
That was a whole night - like 10 or 12 hours in a row - of commercials from every place and era. That wasn't just a lot of fun, but it also gave you an overview of what life was like in every decade in the various nations. It was fantastic

In a way, it's the same thing with the commercials in the shows, as Jake pointed out
