Abbott and Costello Show
« on: February 22, 2009, 03:32:38 PM »
I'm always happy to find and Abbott and Costello show here. If there was one OTR I would have liked to have been in the audience for, this was it. It always sounds like the audience is having the time of their lives, and the boys, Costello especially, play a lot to the audience. They play off the audience's reactions and there are obviously a lot of asides to the audience and physical humor for them that we don't see at home. I'm sure it comes from Bud and Lou's vaudeville background.

BTW- want a good read? Read Lou's Biography, Lou's on First, by his daughter.

How about an Abbott and Costello double header on this Thursdays show?
(consider it a thank you for breaking the silence around here)  ;D

That would be good. I would say they have to be my favourite comedy otr shows. Yeah what happened to everybody at the weekend? It's not been a holiday weekend over in the states?

I always feel remiss when talking about Abbott and Costello if I don't mention the genius of Sid Fields.

Here's his wiki:

And here is my favorite bit from the Abbott and Costello TV show. Talk about no nice deed goes unpunished!

Check out Sid's birthday present to Lou (and his outfit!) in this part:

And don't miss a very aged Joe Besser playing a little kid in part 3:

Probably just one of the quiet phases.  They happen from time to time around here.
